Introduction

We're here to help you find the right finance product for your business. This page outlines key factors to consider when choosing asset finance or business loans.

Our Role

Capital Financial (UK) Limited t/a www.UKBusinessLoans.co.uk and Asset Funder, works with a panel of trusted lenders to find suitable arrangements tailored to your needs. Once we've identified the right option, we'll present the lender's agreement and explain any terms to ensure you're fully informed before signing.

Do I Need Finance?

When acquiring new equipment or funding business growth, your options may include:

  • Purchasing outright with cash
  • Using a bank facility
  • Raising new capital
  • Renting short-term (typically under one year)
  • Entering an asset finance agreement
  • Taking out a business loan

With asset finance, the lender purchases the equipment from your chosen supplier, and you hire or lease it from them. With business loans, you receive a lump sum to use for various business needs, repaid over time with interest.

Key considerations:

  • Do you have the cash to buy outright?
  • How long will you need the equipment or funding?
  • What are the costs of each option?

Types of Finance

Asset Finance

Most asset finance agreements involve a deposit and monthly payments. The main difference lies in what happens at the end of the term:

  • Hire Purchase: Option to purchase at the end. If not taken, the equipment is returned.
  • Conditional Sale: You automatically own the equipment at the end.
  • Lease: No ownership. You may extend the lease, return the equipment, or sell it on behalf of the lender.

Considerations:

  • Duration of equipment use
  • Tax, VAT, and accounting implications

For more details of these factors, see the Government's Leasing and Asset Finance advice (https://www.gov.uk/business-finance-explained/leasing-and-asset-finance)

Business Loans:

  • Secured Loans – backed by assets for lower interest rates
  • Unsecured Loans – flexible funding without collateral
  • Invoice Finance – unlock cash tied up in unpaid invoices
  • Development Finance – funding for property or infrastructure projects
  • Trade Finance – support for purchasing goods and managing supplier payments
  • Stocking Finance – tailored for inventory funding

Suitability of Finance

Finance may not be suitable if:

  • You're unsure whether you'll need the equipment or funding for the full contract term
  • The equipment may not remain in good working condition
  • You plan to change equipment mid-contract (this may incur extra charges)
